Our Contact Lens Process
Choosing contact lenses is about more than convenience. It’s about finding a lens that fits your eyes, lifestyle, and long-term vision needs.
At Cowichan Eyecare, we take a thoughtful and technology-supported approach to make sure your contact lens experience is safe, personalized, and successful.
Whether you’re trying contacts for the first time or seeking a better solution than what you’re currently wearing, our step-by-step process is designed to help you feel confident and cared for.
We start by thoroughly examining your eyes. Depending on whether you’ve used contact lenses before, the extent of your eye changes, and the overall health of your eyes, we will determine whether contact lenses are best suited to your unique needs.
If contact lenses are a good choice for you, we will proceed to explore the type of lens that best suits your needs and lifestyle. There are many different lens types available, and when it comes to contact lenses, there’s no such thing as a one-size-fits-all solution.
We can fit all types of soft lenses and many specialty contact lenses, such as rigid gas permeable lenses and scleral lenses.
Once we have assessed your eye health and determined your vision correction needs, we move on to the fitting. This part of the process is important for determining the correct size, style, and shape of your new lenses.
Taking measurements of your eyes helps us provide an accurate fit. We will measure both your eyes since no 2 eyes are exactly alike.
Once we’re confident that we’ve found the right lenses for you, we send you home with a trial pair and detailed information on how to properly use and care for your new contact lenses. This allows you to determine whether or not your contacts are comfortable and provide clear vision.
If you experience any issues with your new contact lenses, we can adjust the fitting until we find the optimal lenses for your needs.
Contact Lens Hygiene & Eye Health
Even the best lenses can pose risks if not worn or cleaned properly. We’ll guide you through the process of handling your contacts safely and explain the signs to watch for that indicate potential issues. Improper use or poor hygiene can lead to serious eye problems like:
Our goal is to keep your eyes healthy, maintain clear vision, and provide a worry-free experience.
